What is Smile Design?
- The importance of the first impression in human relations cannot be denied. Especially a good smile will ensure that our self-confidence is good and that our environment is positive about us.
Research shows that we are focused on the teeth of the people in the conversation and laughter. Just as an unpleasant smile creates negative emotions in people, a beautiful smile will bring success in communication.

What is your ideal smile?
- First of all, it is a smile that is pleasing to the eye of the people, fully harmonious and most importantly the naturalness of the face that we like in ourselves.

What are the factors that affect an ideal smile?
- Gender; The anatomy of men and women is different, and this difference affects the smile design. In men, the lines are sharper and clearer, whereas in women the lines are faint. In women, the laughing line is curved, while in men the laughing line is more straight. In women, the corners of the teeth are more rounded, whereas in men, the corners are flatter. In females, the front two teeth are more prominent and longer.

- The classical information about the face shape is that the shape of the face and the shape of the teeth are similar. However, sometimes minor changes can lead to better results. For example, long teeth that will be made to an oval-faced person will make the face look longer and weaker.
- Age; With age, the color of our teeth darkens, shortening of the tooth and tooth surface irregularities occur. Gingival recessions cause gaps to open. To erase the effects of aging, teeth should be discolored, gaps should be closed with the help of prostheses, missing teeth and tooth irregularities should be removed. Compensating for missing teeth will prevent both improved speech and collapse of the cheek and lips.
- Lips, with aging, our upper lip hangs down, upper teeth appear less and lower teeth appear more. Due to the decrease in the vertical dimension, the jaw ends approach each other and the lips close onto each other. The lips are like the frames that surround our teeth. Lips are long, short, thick and thin according to the teeth are arranged and defects are tried to be eliminated in this way.
- Gums are the most important components surrounding our teeth. No matter how beautiful our teeth, problems in our gums will disrupt all this beauty. Swelling, redness and bright appearance of the gums due to gingivitis will affect the whole aesthetics. In some cases, gums appear more than they should have, in this case we call gummy smile, the gums are contoured and brought back to the form that will not affect our smile. In some cases, gaps are formed between the teeth due to the removal of the gums. In such cases, problems in smiling can be solved by prosthetic restorations. There are dark pigmentations in the gums, especially in dark-skinned people. They can be easily removed with laser. In excessive gums, gums can be treated by using tissue grafts taken from the mouth. The important thing is to detect the problems correctly and to provide maximum aesthetics with minimal treatments.
The color of our teeth in a short time such as thirty minutes we can open 4-5 tons. In cases where bleaching is not sufficient, we can easily solve color problems with laminated, crown or adhesive techniques. Our understanding of treatment is always to protect the natural. Especially in perplexity problems, firstly, it tries to solve the problem with orthodontic treatment, and when it is not enough, it can be treated with prosthetic solutions. By replacing dark colored fillings with tooth colored fillings, we can eliminate the bad image that will occur during laughing. Here we can use tooth-colored composite fillings as well as restoration using porcelain fillings.
Form disorders can be easily treated with small abrasions, adhesive treatments or laminae. Very nice smiles can be created with small touches.
