MAIN PAGE / OUR TREATMENTS / MAXILLOFACIAL SURGERY / MAXILLOFACIAL CYSTS

The cyst is defined as the pathological space surrounded by epithelium. Inside the cavity is a liquid or semi-solid material. Considering all localizations in the body, the jaws are the most common site of cysts. Jaw cysts are very common and are clinically important because they grow in bone tissue and cause bone damage. Cysts in the jaws are often tooth-borne. These cysts, which can form around the root of the tooth, can reach large dimensions without any findings if left untreated. Cysts that grow and develop over time in their region may reveal asymmetries and deformities.

Jaw cysts are usually treated with surgical removal of the cysts together with the wall. Operations are usually performed under local anesthesia. General anesthesia is more appropriate in large cysts.
